Egypt refers mosque imam to prosecution due to attack on Macron

SANAA, Nov. 2 (YPA) – Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf referred on Monday a mosque imam to the public and administrative prosecution offices due to his attack on the French President Macron’s insults of Islam and cartoons offensive to Mohammad Prophet.

The Egyptian Minister of Awqaf, Muḥammad Mukhtār Jumʿah, said that the ministry decided to suspend Imam, Ahmed Hammam, from work, and to recommend quickly ending his service, according to Egypt’s media outlets.

The ministry accused the arrested imam of inciting violence and terrorism.

The Arab and Islamic worlds have seen widespread protest rallies against Paris’s stance regarding the repeated insults of the Prophet Mohammad and the hate speech and offense issued by the French President, Emmanuel Macron, who declared to provide and publish these cartoons.
