PM discusses with UN’s Coordinator challenges facing humanitarian action in Yemen

SANAA, Oct. 4 (YPA) – Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor discussed on Sunday with the United Nations Resident Representative and Humanitarian Coordinator Lise Grande ways to develop the mechanism of joint action to overcome the current challenges facing humanitarian action in Yemen.

The meeting touched on the difficulties facing humanitarian activity and its support for government sectors that are directly relating to the daily life of citizens and contribute to alleviating their suffering due to the continuing aggression and siege for more than five and a half years.

The disastrous effects resulting from Saudi-led coalition’s detention of oil derivatives ships and preventing their access to Hodeidah port on vital sectors were also discussed in the meeting.

At the meeting, emphasis was placed on the need for exerting UN pressure on the aggressors and their tools to stop practices that fall under war crimes.

The mutual concern was emphasized to enhance the level of UN and international support for the Yemeni people in their current ordeal which is further worsen by the continuation of the status quo.
