Jordan’s King Abdullah accepts resignation of Prime Minister Omar al-Razzaz

SANAA, Oct. 4 (YPA) – Jordanian King Abdullah II bin Al-Hassan accepted the resignation of the former Prime Minister, Dr. Omar Al-Razzaz, and assigned him and his government to conduct business until an alternative was chosen.
According to the Jordanian news agency Petra, the Jordanian king accepted, on Saturday evening, the resignation of former Prime Minister Omar Al-Razzaz and members of his government.
The agency added, “The King instructs Dr. Omar Al-Razzaz and his government to continue conducting business until the prime minister is chosen and the new government is formed.”
Al-Razzaz assumed the presidency of the Jordanian government after protests that toppled the government of Dr. Hani Al-Mulki, as he made pledges to bypass the amendments to the income tax law, which was soon approved by the government after the approval of the House of Representatives.
Omar Al-Razzaz continued in his position for about two years and three months, during which his government faced several challenges, most notably the teachers’ protests and the Corona virus epidemic.
