Islah militants establish military points for collection in Abyan

ABYAN, sept. 23 (YPA) – Islah militants have set up a military post to impose financial levies on tanker drivers in Abyan province, southern Yemen, a local source said on Tuesday.

A local source in the province confirmed that the al-Islah militants had set up a military post to impose financial levies and blackmail tanker drivers in the Qarn al-Kalasi area of Shuqrah city.

He explained that the military point controlled by the gunmen of the leader Walid al-Fadhli, who were brought from Shabwah and Marib, imposes by force money more than 10,000 riyals on each truck.

Truck and tanker drivers have been witnessing harassments and abuses  on a daily basis by al-Islah militants in Abyan, the source added.
