America intends to withdraw its forces from Afghanistan by May 2021

SANAA, Sept. 23 (YPA) – A Pentagon official announced on Tuesday that the United States has “cautious plans” for the possibility of withdrawing all US forces from Afghanistan by May 2021.
Speaking to the US House of Representatives’ Security Subcommittee on Security, David Hilvey, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Indian Ocean Security, said: “I would like to be clear that the Secretary of Defense Mark Esper has not issued orders to reduce the number of our military personnel in Afghanistan to what There are fewer than 4,000 or 5,000 individuals. However, we have cautious plans to withdraw all personnel (from Afghanistan) by May 2021 if conditions are created for that. ”
Hilvey said that the orders in force are to reduce the number of American soldiers deployed in Afghanistan from 8,600 to between 4,000 and 5,000 people until late November.
The United States began to reduce the number of its military presence in Afghanistan after the signing of a peace agreement with the “Taliban” movement in the Qatari capital, Doha, on February 29.
