24 Palestinian prisoners infected with Coronavirus in Zionist occupation prisons

SANAA, Sept. 8 (YPA) – The number of Palestinian prisoners infected with the Coronavirus “COVID-19” virus has risen to 24 after seven new infections were recorded in the prisons of the Zionist occupation, said Qadri Abu Bakr, head of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO)’s Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs .

Abu Bakr explained that number of cases of Covid-19 virus in Palestinian prisoners as of yesterday was 17, with 7 new cases added today in “Ofer prison”, bringing the total number of prisoners infected cases to 24.

He noted to the risk of  “Covid-19″ outbreak of inside the prisons, and deterioration of the health conditions of the  prisoners,  who are under the deliberate implementation of the policy of medical negligence against them.

He warned of  the negative effects on sick and prisoners in general, especially since the prison rooms are overcrowded, and there is no way to isolate the prisoners from each other,” Abubakar warned.

Abu Bakr held the authorities of the Zionist occupation entity responsible  for the lives of the prisoners, because the transmission of the disease .

He  noted that the Zionist occupation entity had not responded to the call and demands of humanitarian organizations, including the World Health Organization, for the release of elderly prisoners, patients, women and children.
