Coalition works to thwart UN envoy efforts on Yemen: FM official
SANAA, July 2 (YPA) – An official of the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday that the Saudi-led aggression coalition has worked to thwart the UN envoy’s efforts to end the war in Yemen.
The official affirmed in a news statement that escalation by the coalition contradicts the its claim of a cease-fire declared by Saudi Arabia.
The statement reaffirmed that the coalition did want achieving peace in Yemen, but its aimed at destroying ,occupying and plundering Yemen’s wealth, as well as starving the Yemeni people.
It pointed out that seizing oil derivative ships by Saudi Arabia aimed at imposing a policy of collective punishment against the Yemeni people and causing an unforeseeable humanitarian catastrophe in light of the spread of Covid-19.
The official called on the international community and the United Nations that sponsor the political settlement in Yemen to break out of the silence and pressure on Saudi Arabia to stop its war and to lift its siege on the seized oil and gas ships.
It reiterated that Sanaa has announced the peace initiative to end the war and its preparation to achieve a just and honorable peace, and at the same time reserves its legitimate right to defend the Yemeni people and its sovereignty.
