Residents protest against lack of water service in Hadhramaut

HADHRAMAUT, June 29 (YPA) – Residents of the Ash Shihr district of Hadhramaut province on Sunday staged a vigil to denounce the interruption of water service for years.

In the vigil in front of  the directorate’s security department, local residents demanded the dismissal of the director of the Water Foundation and the accountability of those responsible for the failure of the water project in the city.

The director of the foundation filed a complaint against journalist Saleh Balsawd, as a result of a post on his Facebook page in which he raised questions about the reasons for the failure of the Mansoura Reservoir project, which has been stalled for more than two years.

The forces of Hadi and al-Islah attacked the protesters, where one of the gunmen assaulted journalist Omar Sami Karashim, and pulled the camera from him in order to delete the pictures he documented.
