Fighting resumes between Hadi’s forces, STC in Abyan

ABYAN, June 25 (YPA) – Fighting between the UAE-backed Southern transitional council (STC’s militias and Hadi forces resumed in Abyan on Thursday morning, a sign that the coalition has failed to establish a ceasefire despite the dispatch of monitoring teams, local sources said.

According to the sources, the two sides of the conflict exchanged artillery and rocket fire along the battle fronts in al-Taryah and Sheikh Salem areas.

The STC’s media accused Hadi’s forces of targeting positions of the transitional militias the outskirts of Zinjibar and Ja’ar districts.

Meanwhile, the UAE-backed factions carried out two ambushes targeting Hadi’s forces in al-al-Muhafed district, noting that the first one targeted a column in Wadi Thayaqah and the other took place in the area of al-Jara.

The return of the clashes followed the withdrawal of Saudi-UAE monitoring committees to Aden, according to the STC’s spokesman, Mohammed al-Naqeeb.

He said that the coalition committee met with the commanders of the transitional before returning to Abyan without disclosing the details of what happened, noting that another team of the coalition arrived Shabwah to meet with the leaders of Hadi’s forces.
