Corona pandemic causes losses to Yemeni Civil Aviation Authority

SANAA, April 17 (YPA) – The global Corona pandemic has affected the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology in Yemen as a result of the decrease in flights that cross the airspace of the Republic of Yemen.

“The authority lost, during the second half of last March due to the Corona pandemic, 54 percent of the revenues that was obtaining from international airlines whose flights cross the airspace of Yemen,” the official Saba News Agency quoted the authority’s undersecretary Raed Talib as saying.

Talib pointed out that the traffic of international flights in Yemeni airspace decreased by more than 60 per cent until the end of last March due to the Corona virus pandemic.

This has doubled the losses of the Civil Aviation Authority in addition to the unfair siege imposed by Saudi-led aggression coalition on the country, he explained.
