Japan announces next Tuesday state of emergency

SANAA, April 5 (YPA) – Yomiuri newspaper said on Sunday that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will declare a state of emergency, due to the Corona virus on Tuesday, and is likely to announce plans to do so Monday.
Under a law that was amended in March to include the Coronavirus, the prime minister could declare a state of emergency if the disease was a “grave danger” to people’s lives, and if its rapid spread had a huge impact on the economy. The virus has already increased the risk of a recession in Japan, according to Reuters.
The move could give rulers of the worst-affected areas additional authority to ask people to stay home, cancel events and close schools and other public facilities.
Japan has not yet witnessed a surge in the spread of the virus, as happened in the United States, Europe and other countries, as it recorded three thousand infections and 73 deaths as of Friday.
