3,000 bags of rotten flour belonging to WFP seized in Hajjah

HAJJAH, March 31 (YPA) – Local authorities in Hajjah province have recently seized six trucks belonging to the World Food Program (WFP) in Abs district carrying 3,000 bags of flout not fit for human consumption.

Director the branch of the Supreme Council for Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation in the province Allan Fadhael said that the council’s branch received a notification on March 11 from the joint operations room in the province on the presence of a locomotive and 21 trucks carrying food aid belonging to WFP in Abs district.

When the concerned authorities examined those quantities of aid food they found that six trucks carrying rotten flour, which is not suitable for human use, Fadhael added.

He pointed out that WFP officials were informed of the results of the report of the Standards Authority and the directives of the Public Prosecution to destroy that quantity, but the program objected and waved to suspend aid if it was destroyed.

Fadhael called on WFP to be assistant factor to alleviate the suffering of Yemeni society due to the aggression, not to increase burden on it with providing rotten food aid.
