Parliament reviews several draft amendments to laws

SANAA, March 29 (YPA) – The Yemeni Parliament, in its meeting Sunday chaired by Speaker Yahya al-Ra’i, reviewed and discussed a number of draft amendments to laws.

The House reviewed the opinion of the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee on amending Articles 13-33 of the Judicial Fees Law No. 26 of 2013, in the presence of the Minister of Justice Judge Mohammed al-Dailami.

The Parliament decided to refer the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee’s opinion to the competent committee to study it and to submit a report thereon to the House in a future session.

In its session, the House also reviewed the report of the joint committee formed from the Justice and Endowments Committee for codifying the provisions of Islamic Sharia on a draft law for the year 2020 regarding amending Articles 28 and 46 of Law No. 34 of 2008 on the Higher Judicial Institute.

The House postponed its discussion to a future session in the presence of the relevant government side.

In the same context, the House discussed a number of amendment bills to laws of general sales tax, customs, and customs tariff in light of the report of the Financial Affairs Committee.

The Parliament postponed the vote on these bills to a future session after completing the discussion.
