Leader Kim Jong Un oversees missile firing drills

SANAA, March 10 (YPA) –  Leader Kim Jong-Un personally oversaw the military’s firing exercises conducted by the long-range artillery unit, (Korean Central News Agency on Tuesday.

The Korean People’s Army (KPA) leaders accompanied Kim, who expressed “great satisfaction with the outcome of the exercises,” according to the agency.

“The purpose of the firepower strike drill was to inspect the sudden military counterattack capability of the long-range artillery units on the front,” KCNA said.

Photos released by KCNA showed troops firing a number of artillery guns, as well as missiles from a multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS) with four launching tubes.

The missiles flew up to 200km and reached 50km in altitude, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said.

North Korea launched several missiles at sea on Monday as part of a firing exercise, the South Korean military said, prompting UU and Chinese calls for Pyongyang to return to talks aimed at ending its nuclear and missile programs.
