Coronavirus deaths rise to 1,665 in China

SANAA, Feb. 16 (YPA) – Chinese authorities on Sunday announced a rise in the number of deaths of the new coronavirus to 1,665, while 68,500 infected and some 9,419 cases recovered since the outbreak of the deadly disease.

“The Health Commission has received information from 31 provinces, confirming that 68,500 people infected with the virus

“At present, we have 57,416 patients (11,272 in critical conditions) , 1,665 people have been dead by the virus to date, and 9,419 have recovered from the disease.”

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) said this week that the coronavirus poses a “very serious threat” to the world, despite the fact that 99 percent of cases are in China.

“We are concerned about the increasing number of infected people in China including health workers there,” Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), said during speech in the sidelines of the Munich Security Forum.
