Successive crises in Yemen calls for rapid intervention at all levels: Minister

SANAA, Oct. 17 (YPA) – Human Rights Minister Aliya Abdullatif on Thursday said that the successive crises in Yemen have increased the statistics of patients and their suffering, which requires swift intervention in the health sector and meeting needs at all levels.

During her meeting with officials in the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the minister emphasized the importance of protection projects, noting to the current health situation and the possibility of carrying out field work to familiarize with needs of the health sector.

In the meeting, the ICRC’s protection section coordinator promised to raise the issues discussed at the meeting to ICRC’s officials to take the necessary measures and implement interventions in accordance with the standards of the Committee.

The meeting also touched on the issues related to the humanitarian aspect, most notably the detention of oil derivatives ships by Saudi-led aggression coalition, which exacerbated the health situation in hospitals and health centers due to the lack of diesel.
