Parliament Speaker discusses aggression impact on national economy 

SANAA, Oct. 7 (YPA) – Speaker of the Parliament Yahya Ali al-Ra’i met on Monday discussed a report on the effects of aggression on the Yemeni economy during the period 2015 – 2018.

This came during his meeting with both Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdulaziz al-Kumaim and Chief of the Central Statistical Organization Ahmed Ishaq, who submitted the report.

Al-Kumaim and Ishaq indicated that the report provides preliminary results of the size of destruction, losses and damage to Yemen, and in particular the national economy, as a guide for developing solutions and possible remedies to stop deterioration and restore life to the economic sectors.

In the meeting, Ishaq noted that Yemen has witnessed the widest and fiercest aggression in its contemporary history during since March 2015 until the preparation of the report.

The report showed the largest direct and indirect losses suffered by the Yemeni economy in various sectors and its impact on GDP, which has witnessed a continuous contraction since 2015 with negative growth rates.

With the continuation of the aggression, the economy will continue to bleed and losses in large numbers that can not be overcome in the near time and directly linked to the livelihood of the population, the report explained.
