Acting Speaker of Shura meets UN resident representative

SANAA, April 17 (YPA) – Acting Speaker of the Shura Council, Mohammed Hussein Al-Aidarous, met on Tuesday with the United Nations (UN) resident representative and humanitarian coordinator for Yemen, Lise Grande.

In the meeting, Al-Aidarous reviewed the horrific crimes of the Saudi-led coalition against Yemen for more than three years, which claimed thousands of civilian lives.

He handed over statistics to the UN humanitarian coordinator on the most prominent violations committed by the coalition countries since the beginning of the aggression on March 26, 2015.

Al-Aidarous touched upon the Yemeni people’s human suffering due to the all-out blocked imposed by the coalition on the country, which led to a further expansion of poverty and the spread of epidemics.

He urged further endeavors for re-opening Sanaa International Airport for civilian flights, calling on the United Nations to bear its responsibilities and take a decisive decision to stop the war in Yemen.

For her part, Grande confirmed that the suffering of Yemenis and their humanitarian issues were of interest to the United Nations.
