Islah Party militias withdraw from Ataq city of Shabwa

SHABWA, June 23 (YPA) – A mediation committee on Sunday reached an agreement between rival militias loyal to Saudi-Emirati occupation in the occupied province of Shabwa, which contains the withdrawal of militias of Islah Party (Muslim Brotherhood) from the city of Ataq.

Sources told Yemen Press Agency that the mediation committee led by sheikhs and notables from Shabwa had reached an agreement with the Islah Party leaders that control the local authority in the province to end the tension in Ataq between the so-called “elite militias” backed by the UAE occupation and the so-called “21st Brigade” militias of the Party.

The agreement stipulates that the “public security” implicitly affiliated to the Islah Party shall assume the task of securing the city of Ataq, while the UAE-backed “Shabwaniya elite” militias assume the task of the security belt of the city, according to the sources.

The sources added that it was agreed to bring out the Islah militias loyal to Saudi occupation to camps outside the city to secure the borders of the province.
