Saudi forces occupy border port of Sarfait in Mahra

MAHRA, April 29 (YPA) – Saudi forces continue to violate Yemeni sovereignty, specifically in the eastern province of Mahra, through sending military reinforcements continuously to occupy border and sea ports in order to impose the control over the province.

Sources reported that a military force led by Saudi officers and militia soldiers loyal to them arrived on Sunday evening on board of military cars and armored vehicles and occupied the border port of Sarfait, east of the province, in Hoof district.

This move was met with a wide popular rejection of the district’s people, who described those forces as occupation forces and their actions in the province as a violation of the national sovereignty.

“The people of Hoof district are preparing to confront and expel the Saudi occupation forces from the district,” said the sources.

Hoof district has been witnessing intense popular movements, led by Sheikhs and social figures of the district, to refuse changing the port of Sarfait into a military barrack, especially that there is a battalion of the Yemeni army and a local force from the district’s people stationed therein.
