UAE-backed militias crackdown protesters in Shabwah

SHABAWH, April 29 (YPA) – The elite militias, funded by the United Arab Emirates  occupation forces on Sunday  attacked a gathering of residents of Rudum District of Shabwah province eastern Yemen,  and prevented them from a ” sit-in”  in  front of the gate of the Belhaf facility to demand the restoration of the district’s power, local sources told Yemen Press Agency.

According to the sources, the elite militias opened fire on the sons of Rudum District and prevented them from moving toward the gate of the Belhaf to carry out a sit-in demanding the restoration of the power to the district as it was before the aggression against Yemen.

They stressed that Shabwanian elite revealed its true face through crackdown citizens and standing against Shabwah.

“ The Sons of Rudum district live in Darkness while the UAE drains the wealth of  Shabwah oil without providing basic services to the people of the region,” one of the sources said.

It is worth mentioning that the UAE took control over Belhaf Gas port in April 2016 and established Apache airstrips and a secret prison that converted the oil site to a military base to control the wealth of Shabwah.
