Holding oil ships by aggression coalition is behind oil derivatives crisis: Oil Minister

SANAA, April 16 (YPA) – Minister of Oil and Minerals Ahmed Daress on Monday said that the existing oil derivatives shortage crisis is caused by arbitrary holding of oil vessels by Saudi-led aggression coalition.

Speaking to “the media platform” organized by the Ministry of Information, Daress noted that the aggression coalition has been holding ten oil ships in Djibouti after inspecting them and despite they are obtaining permits from the United Nations.

“Some of these vessels are held for 60 days and there are delay penalties ranging between 10 to 15 thousand dollars a day and up to one million dollars during the period of delay, which is added to the value,” said the minister

The minister explained that the Yemeni Petroleum Company was not able to control the market during the past period, but it is now practicing its functions in controlling the prices despite the problems facing it due to these obstacles and is bearing large costs of fines for renting, unloading, transporting and others.

“The aim of holding these vessels is to fight the Yemeni people and to subjugate them,” he said.

The minister called on the United Nations and international organizations to work on releasing the oil derivatives vessels, as the continuation of holding them is a crime against humanity.
